Judge asks "isn't deflation good?"
The answer is no, no and heck no. Deflation happens when tomorrows goods cost less than today's goods. Suppliers quickly decide that hoarding cash is better than producing product, because the cash will be worth more tomorrow and the product worth less. They all do it together (within days of each other) and they shut down their factories just as quickly. This "non-linear" event is catastrophic and irreversible. Fifty percent national unemployment within a week is possible. This is why deflation must be prevented. So please stop asking the question on national TV, Judge? The unintended consequence of the well-intentioned question is too horrible to consider. We love you though Judge, you know that?
